Updated 2/9/13.
Tall Timbers Anthology is a memoir that consists of short (and not so short) stories. Across the Great Divide recounts the tragedy and triumph of my family coming to America, and the connections between their time and mine.
The centerpiece, Dancer in the River, has two parts: “Shuttered Houses” and “Into the Mist”. In Dancer in the River I traverse the Olympic Mountains of Washington state, finding answers in nature as I experience “the coming of age” – saying goodbye to my parents, assuming new responsibilities, and contemplating life after death. On this climb, we’ll examine the costs of victory – and at times descend to darker places as I explore life in the shadow of the tall timbers that shaped my life.
My Back Pages (coming in 2014), a companion piece to Dancer in the River, explores the question all genealogists ask: “What if I could go back in time and meet my ancestors?”. We’ll meet the characters from Dancer in the River and see how the bonds of the generations were formed.
I hope you enjoy my travels. Please feel free to leave comments.
